For as long as I can remember, I had a dream of someday owning my own bar. I loved the idea of creating a place where people could come together, have a drink, talk, laugh, listen to music and simply enjoy being there.
For a long time, it was just that—a dream.
But eventually I decided that if I was ever going to make it happen, I needed to stop dreaming about it and start learning how to do it.
In 2012, I began learning how to make beer.
What started as an interest quickly became a passion. Brewing fascinated me. There was always something else to learn, another style to try, another ingredient to understand and another batch that could be better than the one before it.
But I also knew that learning how to make beer wasn't enough.
If I really wanted to open a brewery and bar someday, I needed to understand the business behind it too.
So I gave myself time.
I spent the next five years studying, learning and preparing. I wasn't in a hurry to open something just so I could say I owned a brewery. I wanted to understand what I was getting into and build a real plan for making it work.
During those years, I studied brewing, researched equipment, learned about costs and started understanding the licensing and operational side of running a brewery. I worked on a plan and eventually developed a business plan.
I wanted to understand not only how to make good beer, but what it would actually take to build and operate a successful business.
Along the way, I met some great people.
Brewers, business owners and others who were willing to share what they had learned. Some offered advice. Some shared their experiences. Some became friends.
Every conversation taught me something, and every lesson added another piece to the dream I was slowly trying to build.
The years went by, but the idea never went away.
If anything, it became stronger.
I kept learning, kept planning and kept thinking about what my place would look like someday. I didn't just picture brewing tanks and a bar. I pictured the entire experience—a place where people could gather, listen to music, attend events, enjoy a beer and feel comfortable staying awhile.
Then came 2022.
After all those years, the dream finally needed a name.
That was when something I had carried around in my head for years began to feel real.
The plans became more detailed. The business plan had a purpose. I started laying out the brewery itself—where the brewing equipment would go, where the bar would be, where people would sit and how the different areas would work together.
The original 2022 drawing shown here was part of that process.
It wasn't a picture of an existing brewery.
It was a picture of a dream.
I could look at that drawing and see beyond the lines on a computer screen.
I could see the brewing equipment.
I could see the bar.
I could see the beer garden.
I could picture people sitting together, drinking beer, listening to music, laughing and enjoying themselves.
For the first time, the dream that had started so many years earlier had a name, a business plan and a vision for what it could actually become.
Adler Brewing Company.
Then came the hard part.
Turning a drawing into a building.
Turning years of studying into actual brewing equipment.
Turning a business plan into an operating business.
And turning a dream into a place where someone could finally sit down and order an Adler beer.
In 2023, after years of learning, planning and working toward that goal, Adler Brewing Company opened its doors.
But Adler didn't really begin in 2023.
That was simply when the doors opened and the beer started flowing.
The story began much earlier—with a dream of someday owning a bar, learning to brew beer in 2012, spending years studying the craft and the business, meeting some incredible people along the way, and eventually deciding that it was finally time to try to make that dream real.
The dream started years before the first pint was ever poured.
And in 2022, that dream finally got its name.
Est. 2023
